Logo Design

Looking to distinguish themselves from the Seminary while still remaining linked, the Center for Disability and Ministry came to me searching for a logo that represented who they are and what they are about: inclusion within church ministry.

This icon contains 3 types of imagery. First, you will notice many intersecting lines. These intersections represent inclusion, integration and the coming together of all people.

When viewed all together, the intersecting lines form the second piece of imagery, the cross. Inclusion and the gathering of all people together is the central message of the gospel and the heart of ministry. All of us are joined together in Christ at the cross.

The last piece of imagery is a crest. A crest is often used in academic logos as a representation of academic excellence. In medieval history, crests were used as family symbols. They were a sign of belonging to something greater than yourself. In the same way, the crest behind the cross in this image is a symbol of academic excellence as well as belonging. Aesthetically the crest both grounds the image of the cross in space and allows for multiple colors in this logo which give it greater dimension.
